Tech 21 Sans Amp Audio Recording
This week’s blog is about the latest piece of gear we just purchased for our audio department. It is called the Tech 21 SansAmp Para Driver D.I. This is a direct box for audio recording, or live sound use on stage, but has many more features then a direct box would normally have. The model we purchased is primarily for Bass guitar, however can be used for guitar, electric, acoustic, keyboards, violin, mandolin, or any instrument….even a snare drum for a very unique effect. This direct box has a number of different controls you can set for a custom tone or sound.

Here’s what the manufacturer of the Tech 21 SansAmp says about the direct box:

This floor version of our RPM rackmount provides the same detailed tone shaping possibilities for any signal source. It is particularly useful with acoustic, electric and bass guitars, and upright bass, either direct to a mixing console or with an instrument amplifier. The Para Driver DI gives your instrument a natural warmth and presence, as if miking it through a tube pre-amp. The SansAmp circuitry eliminates the harsh, unnatural harmonics of piezo pickups, while the Drive control offers some tasteful edge — just a little or over-the-top.

Recording bass tracks or other instruments in the control room with the Tech 21 SansAmp Para Driver D.I. , can be a very big advantage with this piece of gear for many reasons (will be covered in another blog) especially that it is so easy to use. For example, you can relate to the recording in the control room instead of using head phones. Lots of players find this method to be very advantageous. If you have not tried this, come by the Tahoe Production House audio production studio and give it a try. Of course we can also use the Sana Amp D.I. in conjunction with your favorite amp.

The tone shaping is endless.
