The South Lake Tahoe video production company was awarded a “Gold Award” in the category of web-based government video that exceeds the high standards of industry norms. The video that garnered the “Gold Award” for Tahoe Production House was produced for the City of South Lake Tahoe. An educational piece targeted to South Lake Tahoe Vacation Rental Homeowners, the video covers pertinent information about vacation home rental regulations such as the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) and The Vacation Home Rental Ordinance.

“The challenge we faced when creating this video was how to take very dry, legalistic information and deliver it in an engaging manner,” says TPH owner/producer Brandi Brown. “We decided to try to break the mold of the typical “government / PSA” video. Our concept was to have a little fun, without taking away from the serious content of information being communicated. Ultimately, the concept was to recreate a throw back 1950’s training video that was so prevalent in that era. We even shot the video in black-and-white and styled the talent and sets in with a nod to the 1950’s. Given the breadth of information in this video, I believe we succeeded in creating a more engaging piece than if we had followed the conventional format video of relying on text and bullet points to deliver the same information. We were thrilled to be honored by the international AVA Digital Awards.”
The AVA Digital Awards (avaawards.com) is an International competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of a variety of digital media channels. Work ranges from audio and video productions to websites that incorporate interactive components such as video, animation, blogs and podcasts.
