Good Luck Macbeth (GLM) has been a vibrant part of the Reno arts community for 14 years, showcasing transformative theatrical productions that inspire and engage audiences. Now, GLM is embarking on an exciting new chapter with the launch of their capital campaign, Elevate. The aim of this campaign is to purchase and renovate the building at 124 W. Taylor Street in Midtown Reno, transforming it into an accessible arts center that will benefit the entire community.

A Building Steeped in History: The building at 124 W. Taylor Street has a fascinating history, adding an extra layer of significance to GLM’s vision. Previously owned by renowned TV hypnotist Baron Von Brenner, the site was once used as a rehearsal and concert hall for union musicians in the 1960s. Over the years, it has served various purposes, including a live music venue and a printing firm. GLM’s presence in the space since 2018 has been an opportunity to pay homage to its rich past and honor the building’s musical heritage.

Creating a Thriving Arts Center: GLM’s investment in the building has already resulted in the establishment of an eighty-two-seat theater space, complete with movie theater-style seating, a licensed bar area, dressing rooms, and accessible seating. The company now presents six mainstage productions annually, along with additional smaller theatrical events and performances by the Reno Jazz Orchestra. However, owning the building will unlock even greater potential for GLM and the local arts community.

A Legacy for Artists and the Community: Purchasing the building is not merely about acquiring a space—it’s about creating a lasting legacy. GLM envisions the arts center as a hub for creativity, education, and collaboration, offering opportunities for artists, community members, and youth to engage with the performing arts. Ownership of the space would allow GLM to expand its operations, potentially transitioning staff members to full-time positions, and providing stability for the organization.

Fostering Economic and Cultural Growth: The arts play a vital role in fostering vibrant communities. By owning their space, GLM aims to provide stability to not only their organization but also other arts groups in the community. The purchase will enable GLM to offer longer-term leases to tenants like the Reno Jazz Orchestra and provide affordable rehearsal and teaching spaces for individual artists. This commitment to supporting the arts will contribute to the economic growth and cultural vitality of Midtown and the City of Reno.

Tahoe Production House’s Support: Tahoe Production House has been a valued partner in GLM’s capital campaign. They contributed their video production expertise to create a compelling campaign video, capturing the essence of GLM’s vision and the importance of the arts center to the community. By shooting on the GLM stage with dramatic lighting and conducting interviews with actors and stakeholders, they helped bring the project to life. The campaign video, along with testimonials, serves as a testament to the impact and significance of this endeavor.
