Tahoe Production House is proud to share our latest design project, a compelling bifold titled “Opening Argument,” created for the “No on Measure N” campaign. This initiative, backed by a coalition of South Lake Tahoe residents, local small businesses, and real estate professionals, aims to counter the proposed South Lake Tahoe Vacancy Tax. Our design seeks to articulate the complexities and implications of Measure N to the community effectively.

Design and Content Overview

The “Opening Argument” bifold measures 11″ x 17″ and features a comprehensive layout designed to engage and inform. The design integrates striking visuals, clear and concise information, and strategic calls to action, making it a powerful tool in the campaign’s efforts to educate voters about the potential impacts of Measure N.

Front Panel Details

  • Visuals and Layout: The front panel features a prominent logo and contact information in the upper left, ensuring immediate brand recognition and accessibility. A mail indicia in the upper right corner indicates readiness for direct mailing.
  • Central Message: A compelling headline, “Don’t Believe the Hype. Read Measure N for Yourself,” immediately captures attention. Below this, a large photo of a diverse group of people discussing Measure N in a coffee shop setting illustrates community engagement and concern.
  • Key Points: Bullet points list the core arguments against Measure N, emphasizing its lack of solutions for housing affordability, the creation of a huge new bureaucracy, major privacy concerns, and a total lack of accountability.

Inside Panel Highlights

  • Educational Content: The inside of the bifold expands on the issues briefly introduced on the front. Detailed explanations, backed by source citations, argue that Measure N fails to guarantee funding for housing, establishes a burdensome bureaucracy, and infringes on privacy.
  • Visual Aids: Graphics from previous campaign materials are reused for consistency, including impactful images like the Sugar Pine Village with a prohibition sign and a caricature of a government inspector.

Back Panel Features

  • Reinforcement of Key Messages: The back panel mirrors the front with a slightly altered photo to show progression in the discussion, emphasizing a deeper understanding and growing concerns among the group.
  • Summary Chart: A concise chart reiterates the major points against Measure N using only graphics and headlines, designed for quick reading and impact.

Impact and Purpose

Our goal with the “Opening Argument” design was to create a visually engaging and informative piece that makes the complexities of Measure N accessible to all voters. By presenting clear, fact-based arguments against the measure, supplemented with real-life imagery and consistent branding, we aim to foster informed decision-making in the community.

Conclusion

At Tahoe Production House, we believe in the power of well-crafted design to influence public opinion and encourage civic engagement. As the community prepares to vote on Measure N, we are confident that our work will play a crucial role in the “No on Measure N” campaign, helping to illuminate the significant and potentially detrimental impacts of the proposed vacancy tax.
