This fall, Tahoe Production House had the opportunity to partner with South Tahoe Refuse to capture fresh b-roll and stills highlighting their updated operations and new 3-cart system. The project showcased South Tahoe Refuse’s innovative approach to service delivery, from their cutting-edge trucks to day-to-day operational tips for residents. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how the shoot came together.
Behind the Scenes of the Shoot
Pre-Production
Our planning phase kicked off with an in-depth meeting with South Tahoe Refuse representatives. We pinpointed the key features to highlight—like the new 3-cart system, improved recycling processes, and advanced trucks. A site reconnaissance followed, ensuring we could schedule the shoot at the optimal time for capturing the most dynamic footage with minimal disruption to the team’s regular operations.
On-Site Production
On October 4, 2024, our crew arrived at South Tahoe Refuse ready to capture a variety of scenes:
- Recycling Sorting Line: Action shots of workers managing recyclable materials.
- Truck Unloading: Footage of recycle collection trucks dumping materials onto the sorting floor.
- Yard Waste & Bale Shots: Scenes of yard waste piles and bales of recyclables ready for shipment.
- Service Crew in Action: New trucks in use at a local residence, showcasing the efficiency and ease of the 3-cart system.
Using high-definition equipment and a gimbal (Movi) for smooth motion shots, our camera operator ensured every angle was covered. A detailed production rundown kept us on schedule, prioritizing safety around active machinery and vehicles.
Post-Production & Delivery
After the shoot, our team combed through the footage and selected the best clips and photos. These were then polished with basic editing—including color correction—to ensure they’re ready for use in South Tahoe Refuse’s marketing and communications.
Deliverables Included:
- Raw B-Roll Footage: High-resolution video clips capturing the operation’s key elements.
- Edited Photos: Both high-resolution and web-friendly images for online and print use.
- Final Header Video: A concise 30-second reel perfect for showcasing on the South Tahoe Refuse homepage.
All files were delivered digitally through secure online platforms.
Looking Ahead
We’re thrilled to see South Tahoe Refuse utilizing this new visual content to highlight the efficiency and sustainability of their updated operations. By capturing these moments and processes, Tahoe Production House hopes to raise community awareness about responsible waste disposal and the benefits of their modern 3-cart system.
