Tahoe Production House was thrilled to support Tahoe Valley Elementary School’s Visual and Performing Arts Booster (VAPA) by filming their spring musical production of Seussical KIDS!, performed on April 3, 2025, at the Thunderbird Theater. With a cast full of young, passionate performers and a crowd of proud families and supporters, the night was full of magic, music, and colorful Seussian charm.
Presented by Tahoe Valley Performing Arts, Seussical KIDS! is a musical based on the beloved works of Dr. Seuss. It brought to life favorite characters like the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, and the Whos of Whoville—all portrayed by young thespians from Tahoe Valley Elementary School. The opening night doubled as a fundraiser gala for the school’s VAPA program, making the event both entertaining and meaningful for the entire community.
The school needed a professional-quality video recording of the live performance that could be used both as an archive and a tool for fundraising and future promotion. With only one night to capture the magic—and a theater full of family and friends—it was crucial to get everything right on the first take, from sound and visuals to unobtrusive camera placement.
TPH assembled a two-camera setup to cover the performance with multiple perspectives: a wide-angle static shot for full-stage coverage and second camera angle to track action, zoom in on performers, and highlight key moments. We synced professional audio from the school’s PA system and ensured uninterrupted recording by hardwiring all cameras into power.
After the show, our post-production team delivered a multi-cam edit with clean audio, color correction, and a polished final presentation suitable for sharing, archiving, or DVD duplication.
