For more than a decade, Tahoe Production House has had the privilege of working alongside the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, helping bring the magic of live theater at Lake Tahoe to audiences both on stage and beyond.
For the 2026 Festival season, our work once again spanned pre-production, commercial development, on-location performance capture, archival video, work samples, and ongoing creative support for one of the region’s most iconic summer arts experiences. This year’s main stage season featured Macbeth and The Heart of Robin Hood, running July 3 through August 23 at Sand Harbor, along with the Festival’s Young Shakespeare programming.
A Longstanding Creative Partnership
Tahoe Production House and the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival have developed an established production relationship over approximately 14 years. That history allows our teams to move efficiently from planning to production while understanding the Festival’s unique environment, technical needs, and marketing goals.
Each season is different, and for 2026 we worked with the Festival team to refine the video scope around the assets that would provide the greatest value: updated advertising, current performance footage, archival documentation, and professional work samples that could continue supporting the organization after the summer season ended.
Developing a Fresh 2026 Advertising Campaign
One of the first priorities was refreshing the Festival’s commercial creative.
After many years of working from an established advertising format, the 2026 campaign called for a new look and updated visual approach. Our post-production team incorporated current Festival imagery, promotional stills, Sand Harbor venue visuals, patron experience footage, and aerial footage to showcase not just the performances, but the incredible setting that makes the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival so distinctive.
The video marketing package included a :30 Main Stage broadcast commercial:
The main stage commercial was produced on a tight early-season deadline so the Festival could begin promoting the summer season well ahead of opening night.
Capturing Young Shakespeare
Our production work extended beyond Sand Harbor with professional archival coverage of Young Shakespeare at the Downtown Reno Library.
For the July 23 performance, Tahoe Production House provided a two-person production team with multi-camera video and professional audio capture. The setup included multiple cameras, direct audio from the house soundboard, wireless lavalier microphones, boom audio, backup equipment, and on-site data management.
Capturing programs like Young Shakespeare is especially meaningful because the footage serves more than one purpose. It preserves the performance itself while also creating professional material the Festival can use to demonstrate the impact of its educational programming to families, supporters, partners, and future participants.
Returning to Sand Harbor for the Main Stage
The heart of the summer production took us back to the Festival’s spectacular lakeside venue at Sand Harbor.
Our 2026 archival schedule included professional performance coverage for:
Macbeth
The Tahoe Production House crew returned to Sand Harbor to document the Festival’s production of Macbeth, creating high-quality archival footage and work samples that could preserve the stage production while also supporting future marketing and organizational needs.
The Heart of Robin Hood
We also captured The Heart of Robin Hood, providing the Festival with another professional record of its 2026 main stage work and valuable footage for future promotional use.
Producing video at Sand Harbor requires additional planning because the venue is outdoors and located within Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. Weather contingencies, equipment logistics, venue requirements, insurance documentation, and filming permissions all become part of the pre-production process. Tahoe Production House coordinated these details in advance so our crew could focus on the performances once cameras started rolling.
More Than an Archival Recording
Our goal with Festival performance coverage is never simply to “record the play.”
Thoughtful multi-camera production creates footage that can serve the organization in several different ways.
The 2026 material was designed to support:
Long-term archival documentation
Professional work samples
Future television and digital advertising
Social media content
Sponsorship and development efforts
Grant and fundraising materials
Press and public relations
Future season promotion
That means every shoot becomes an investment in the Festival’s larger visual content library.
Production Planning Behind the Scenes
A project of this scale requires significant coordination long before the audience takes its seats.
Tahoe Production House handled production scheduling, crew coordination, equipment planning, call sheets, production rundowns, audio requirements, data management, and weather backup dates for the outdoor performances.
We also worked closely with Festival leadership and venue personnel so production could happen without interfering with the live audience experience.
That balance is one of the most important parts of filming live theater: capturing the energy and artistry of the performance while remaining virtually invisible to the audience.
Supporting the Festival as a Community Partner
Our relationship with the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival extends beyond video production.
Tahoe Production House also participated as a 2026 Spotlight Sponsor, supporting the Festival through an in-kind production partnership. The sponsorship included Festival recognition through its Playbill, digital marketing, on-site branding, and other promotional opportunities.
For us, that partnership reflects something larger than a client relationship.
The arts are an important part of what makes the Lake Tahoe region vibrant, and the Shakespeare Festival has created an extraordinary cultural experience that brings professional theater, education, visitors, and community members together every summer.
Preserving the Magic of Live Theater
Live theater is temporary by nature.
A performance happens once, the audience applauds, and the stage resets for the next evening. Professional video gives organizations the opportunity to preserve those moments while extending their value far beyond the final curtain.
We’re proud to have once again supported the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival throughout its 2026 season and grateful for the continued trust their team places in Tahoe Production House.
From television commercials and social media promos to Young Shakespeare, Macbeth, and The Heart of Robin Hood, this year’s project brought together so many of the things we love about production: storytelling, live performance, creative collaboration, and one of the most beautiful stages anywhere in the world.
Here’s to another incredible summer of theater under the stars at Lake Tahoe.
