Relaunching the Washington–Idaho Rainbow Website: Honoring Tradition While Inspiring the Next Generation

Every website tells a story.

For the Washington–Idaho Jurisdiction of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, that story spans generations of leadership, service, friendship, and personal growth. When it came time to relaunch their website, the goal wasn’t simply to modernize the design—it was to create a digital experience that honored nearly a century of tradition while welcoming the next generation of members.

Tahoe Production House was proud to partner with MCB Creative to bring that vision to life through a complete website redesign and development project.

Together, our teams created a modern, user-friendly website that celebrates the organization’s rich history while making it easier than ever for members, families, volunteers, alumnae, and prospective members to connect with everything Washington–Idaho Rainbow has to offer.

A Website Designed for the Future

The previous website had served the organization for many years, but like many long-standing nonprofit websites, it no longer reflected the energy, accessibility, and functionality today’s users expect.

Our objective was to create a website that would:

  • Celebrate the organization’s history and traditions
  • Highlight its mission and values
  • Welcome prospective members and families
  • Improve communication with current members
  • Simplify navigation across desktop and mobile devices
  • Create a flexible platform that can continue growing with the organization

The result is a website that feels both timeless and contemporary.

A Collaborative Partnership

This project was a true collaboration between MCB Creative and Tahoe Production House, combining creative strategy, thoughtful design, technical development, and content organization.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with Washington–Idaho Rainbow leadership to ensure the new website reflected the organization’s identity while improving usability for every audience.

From the earliest discovery meetings through launch day, every decision was guided by one question:

“How can we better serve current members while inspiring future ones?”

From Discovery to Launch

Every successful website begins with careful planning.

Our process included:

Discovery & Content Organization

We gathered existing content, photography, branding assets, organizational information, and historical materials before creating a reverse content document to organize the site’s structure.

This allowed us to identify opportunities to simplify navigation, improve messaging, and create a more intuitive user experience.

UX & Visual Design

Once the content strategy was established, we developed wireframes and page layouts that prioritized ease of use.

The visual design incorporated the organization’s approved brand colors while introducing modern typography, improved spacing, and updated imagery to create a clean, welcoming experience across every device.

Custom Website Development

The new website was built on WordPress, providing a flexible content management system that allows the organization to easily manage updates moving forward.

Development included:

  • Custom page templates
  • Mobile-responsive layouts
  • ADA accessibility integration
  • Contact and inquiry forms
  • Member resources
  • Global navigation
  • Security enhancements
  • SSL configuration
  • Email notifications
  • Google Analytics integration

Every feature was carefully tested to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

Built with Accessibility in Mind

Creating an inclusive online experience was an important part of this project.

The new website includes an ADA accessibility widget, making it easier for visitors of all abilities to access information and navigate the site comfortably.

Accessibility isn’t simply a technical requirement—it’s an important extension of the organization’s commitment to inclusion and community.

Search Engine Optimized

A beautiful website is only effective if people can find it.

Before launch, our team implemented foundational SEO best practices, including:

  • Optimized page titles
  • Meta descriptions
  • Image alt text
  • Open Graph settings
  • Mobile optimization
  • Fast-loading page structure

These improvements help increase visibility while creating a stronger experience for both users and search engines.

Empowering the Organization

One of the most important parts of any website launch happens after the site goes live.

Following launch, Tahoe Production House provided website training so organization leaders can confidently update content, publish blog posts, manage media, and keep the website current without relying on a developer for everyday changes.

We also provided ongoing maintenance recommendations to help ensure the website remains secure, updated, and performing at its best.

Supporting an Incredible Mission

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls has been preparing young women for leadership, service, confidence, and lifelong friendships for generations.

We’re honored to have played a small role in helping tell that story through a modern digital platform that reflects the organization’s values while supporting its future growth.

Projects like this remind us that great websites are more than attractive designs—they’re powerful communication tools that connect people, strengthen organizations, and inspire future generations.

Building Websites That Make an Impact

At Tahoe Production House, we believe every website should be more than just visually appealing—it should tell a story, serve its audience, and help organizations achieve their goals.

From nonprofits and community organizations to businesses and destination brands, we partner with our clients to create websites that combine thoughtful design, strategic messaging, accessibility, and long-term functionality.

We’re grateful to Washington–Idaho Rainbow for trusting us with this important project, and to MCB Creative for another successful collaboration.

Here’s to the next chapter—and the many young women who will discover the Rainbow experience through this new online home.
